Soundtrack: Copeland - In Motion Happy Valentine's Day!! (Or Singles Awareness Day, depending on which you prefer.)
I decided I wanted to write about today because, well, I'm single and I actually enjoy this holiday. I know, I know. It sounds crazy but I really do love it. There are all sorts of love to celebrate, and without love I can't say I would be here. It's because of this that I can't stand the bitterness and jealousy that so many single people put out there on V-Day. I hate when people bash love and just hate on others for being in relationships.
NEWSFLASH: Jealousy and bitterness are NOT attractive qualities. Never. Ever. Period.
For the last three years my valentine has been my old roommate, Emily. Every year we've chosen to embrace V-Day by treating each other to a date. We dress up, go out to eat, get each other gifts and have a grand ole time. However, this year Emily is in San Antonio and I have no date. But this won't stop me from enjoying today.
I'm rocking the pink dress and tights. I spoiled myself with P. Terry's for lunch. I've got my Dominican Joe latte complete with leaf shaped foam art. And now I'm doing something I love (writing) before I spend some time with my sweet Savior who loves me enough to give me this:
Yeah, that's right. Awesome Valentine's gift right? I also got to talk on the phone last night with one of my dear friends in Kyrgyzstan. It was such an encouragement to hear from her, all I wanted to do after hanging up was dance and praise Jesus. Plus my prayers for a job and a place to live are slowly but surely being answered, and it's been exciting to watch them unfold.
Today is a beautiful day. I hope you enjoy it and get to experience a love that is unchanging and never failing.
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." - 1 John 4:7-11
