Crossroads Church Easter Video
When Crossroads pitched me their idea for the video, they specifically wanted a solid white backdrop for a really clean look. Of course, this is much easier said than done, since getting that "Apple commercial" look actually requires a lot of work with lighting. I also didn't have a backdrop, so it was incredibly exciting when they gave me the budget to rent a high quality backdrop from our friends at Oh Happy Day photo booth.
The night before the shoot I was so stressed I couldn't sleep, so my sweet husband offered to go with me in the morning to help with set up. As it turns out, I literally couldn't have done the shoot without him. When we got to the church, we were locked out of the room where we needed to set up. By the time we were given keys and able to get in, we had little more than half an hour to set up the entire backdrop and lighting. Not only that, but the lighting kit I was provided with was basically three tungsten work lamps, which is hardly anything when you're trying to get a perfect, evenly lit set.
Fortunately, everything came together in the end. The lighting isn't what I'd like it to be, but I'm happy with how it came out given the limited materials I was working with. Also, color correcting when you're trying to get a consistent, bright white background with people of different ethnicities is one of the most difficult things I've ever done. Overall, I'm really proud of this project though. It's definitely one of the most difficult setups I've done on my own, and it's a huge honor to have my work shown on Easter Sunday. It was super obvious to me that the Lord brought this whole thing together, and I hope that it encourages you as much as I was encouraged putting it together!
