Levine Wedding Highlights - Austin, TX

“To love one who loves you, to admire one who admires you, to respect one who respects you is the exceeding limit of human joy. It’s stealing fire from heaven, and that is something that you two have done.”

It’s rare that I get to capture couples with the kind of tangible connection and chemistry that Jake and Jen have with each other. Their love is written all over their faces, their smiles, and the way they look at each other like nothing else in the world matters. Their day was romantic, dreamy, and filled with the creative and classy vibes that only the Commodore Perry could conjure up. The Pearl Events team led the stunning day alongside so many other talented vendors, Ida Mayes Florals and Whit McGuire photography.

It was also a creative joy to get to shoot Super 8 alongside digital. Jen is a graphic designer, which is always so flattering whenever I’m trusted by another creative to capture their day. She had a vision for her day and how she wanted it to be captured in photo and video, and I loved that she wanted to incorporate film into that.

The ceremony was poetic, sentimental, and sprinkled with the perfect amount of humor and tenderness. The toasts were moving and brought tears to everyone’s eyes. And the reception was led by the Nightowls who capped off the night with an epic dance party. It was a night and a love for the ages. Congrats to the Levines!

Saheb-Wysocki Wedding Highlights - Austin, TX

“Through my life, I’ve made right decisions and I’ve made wrong ones. But the best choices that I’ve made were the ones that always led me back to you.” David and Autumn have that classic friends to lovers romance story that’s straight out of a rom com. Having been together since high school, they wanted to keep their wedding day sweet, simple, and stress free. That included wanting just a simple Super 8 video (my favorite medium to shoot these days). They spent the morning of the wedding together before heading to the ceremony, where they were surrounded by their closest friends and family. Their love was so evident throughout the day in the way these two look at each other and the tenderness they show toward one another. Cheers to the Saheb-Wysockis!

Kirkpatrick Super 8 Wedding Highlights - Jonestown, TX

“Sometimes I find myself thinking how wonderful it is to love someone at all, but how wonderful it is to be able to love you.” If Neil and Hailey’s emotional vows don’t get you crying, then laughing along with their infectious personalities just might be the thing that does. They are those warm, outgoing, life of the party people who you just want to be best friends with. They met and fell in love while working for an ad agency together in New York (which I chose the first song of the video as a nod to), and they have a knack for style and creativity. I was so thrilled when they wanted to have their film shot entirely in Super 8, and as soon as I heard their incredible vows, I knew I needed to incorporate them into the video. Something new that I also tried was using stock footage. I wasn’t sure if it would be cheesy, but I had a vision of something really poetic that matched the vows that Neil wrote for Hailey. I also specifically wanted to use footage of New York since that was the start of their relationship adventure. I’m so grateful for Neil and Hailey’s trust in me and their entire vendor team. It was truly a dream to be a part of. Cheers to the Kirkpatricks!

Rydin Wedding Highlights - Austin, TX

In my eight years of filming weddings, I can honestly say that I’ve never had a wedding experience quite like Eric and Manon’s! The first, and most obvious reason, is that they wanted their ENTIRE wedding shot on Super 8 film. Normally I would only shoot a couple of rolls on a wedding day, but knowing that this was the primary medium for capturing the day, we decided to go big (I went through 18 rolls of film in one day!).

The second reason is that Eric and Manon’s day was so intimate and personal in a way that I’ve never seen before. They rented a stunning house off of Lake Austin for thirteen of their closest friends and family to spend a weekend of celebration, with incredible food and ten course meals provided by Chef Danny Kievit, and wine pairings chosen by the groom (who happens to be a fantastic sommelier!). The entire weekend centered around just being together and experiencing each other’s presence, taking in some of the best things life has to offer.

But the highlight of it all was the way that Eric and Manon’s friends and family made me and the other vendors feel right at home, as though we were also guests at this fabulous party. Maybe it was the sound of the Super 8 camera that made people feel so comfortable in approaching me, but I spent most of the day talking with and making friends with everyone in attendance. I spent time with the chef, the coordinator, the servers, drinking the leftover wine and being made to feel like I was part of the celebration. It was a truly one of a kind experience, and one that I'm so grateful that I got to be a part of. Congrats to the Rydins!
